The Scout Song And Dance Ensemble "Dzieci Płocka"
The Scout Song and Dance Ensamble “Dzieci Plocka” (Children of Plock) is the oldest children´s ensemble in Poland. It has been existing uninterruptedly since 1946. Scout Master Wacław Milke is the Ensemble´s founder.
In the Ensemble´s repertoire there are Polish national and regional dances, folk rituals and customs, historic dances, suites, scout songs and dances and other nations dances and songs. The Ensemble has given more than 6000 concerts.
It has performed in all major Polish cities and in several dozen European countries. It has also had a series of concerts in Japan.
The Ensemble performed at schools, country youth clubs, workplaces and in the biggest European concert halls (Royal Albert Hall in London, Grand Theatre in Warsaw, Berlin Opera).
The Ensemble has repeatedly represented Poland at international festivals and rallies.
More than 400 children aged 6 to 20 are the Ensemble´s members, and out of them about 200 perform in concerts.
The Ensemble´s activity is an educational phenomenon, a generation relay which is demonstrated best by the fact that the first Ensemble´s members´ grandchildren dance and sing in today´s group.
Many of the former members of “Dzieci Płocka” pursue their career working as professionals in the Ensembles Śląsk or Mazowsze or in the Representative Artistic Ensemble of the Polish Armed Forces.
Well-known Polish composers and choreographers cooperate with the Ensemble “Dzieci Płocka”.
In the course of its many-year activity the Ensemble has won numerous awards and prizes, has taken the best places at many festivals and has received several medals, distinctions and diplomas. “Dzieci Płocka” have performed in many TV recordings and feature films.
The patrtonage over the Ensemble is carried out by the Representative Artistic Ensemble of the Polish Armed Forces and Płock Branch of the National Transport Company.
